Having started his career as an engineering officer in the RAF and becoming the Technical Director at a newly formed Defence Agency, Bill has spent the last 20 years establishing himself as an authority in the ICT industry.
This has culminated in his roles as Deputy Chief Information Officer in the Cabinet Office, CTO for EMC Systems UK, CIO for the Irish Government and, latterly, Head of Information Security at the UK’s Open Banking Programme.
In his role in the Cabinet Office, Bill was responsible for driving forward the Government’s ICT Strategy. This included supporting strategies such as Green IT, The Open Source, Open Standards and Reuse Strategy, The Public Sector Network Strategy, the Data Centre Strategy and Government Cloud/Applications Store Strategy.
Bill is also Non-executive Director (Digital) for FCO Services and the Non-executive Chairman of Covata Ltd, an IT company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
The breadth and depth of his expertise, combined with his strategic knowledge, positions Bill as an invaluable resource in supporting both our Board and its strategic objectives, as well as our team of young engineers.
