coolDC receives energy efficiency award at Data Cloud Awards dinner in Monaco.
During a ceremony hosted by actor Joanna Lumley, our Lincoln Discovery Centre was one of three data centres chosen as winners of the prestigious European Code of Conduct for Data Centres award for energy efficiency.
Chosen from a shortlist of 21 data centres that have applied to join the scheme in the last 12 months, the winning data centres were selected on the basis of a significant reduction in energy consumption through the adoption of best practices.
voluntary initiative managed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, it was created in response to the increasing energy consumption in the commercial sector.
The design of our Lincoln Discovery Centre addresses some of the environmental concerns wrought by expansion of the data centre industry in a number of ways:
· Reduced physical footprint – small, modular, Edge data centre that is closer to the end user;
· Reduced energy footprint – scalable cooling environment is matched to IT infrastructure requirements;
· Reduced carbon footprint – operates at higher end of Ashrae scale, enabling us to demonstrate heat recovery and reuse.
